History

The history of the International Hypnotists Guild goes a long way back in the history of mankind.

In case You Are Curious about this, you may have noticed that in most areas of expertise there have always been individuals Keen On investigating, experimenting, documenting and Sharing the possibilities of their area. Hypnosis was used by the ancient Egyptians to treat maladies of the mind, and is present also in the Ayurveda of Indian culture, we know this because of documentations of people like us. This started over 3000 years ago and continues as You Read This.

To create the kind of documentation that opens for development and interchange connections have to be made, and networks created among those who are most dedicated. In some cultures, and at some times this power to heal is viewed with skeptical eyes by those who are concerned with a power struggle where free minds can be troublesome. In these times and places those who work the the healing of the mind have been forced to work invisibly – forming societies that are more or less secret.

Hypnosis is one of these field, and it is only recently that some of the generations of individuals that have been involved in the development of hypnosis have decided to become “visible” in the International Hypnotists Guild, that crosses the borders of existing professions with only one objective: To collect, develop and bring to everyones mind the incredible, yet simple and natural power of hypnosis. Be aware that the members listed officially are not by far all members, since there are people who still operate within areas where it is not to their advantage to be visible, yet. We are a very old Guild that has only recently become visible but will grow and bloom like a garden in springtime, revealing our ancient roots gradually in the flowers of our knowledge.

Regardless if an induction is used to simply entertain and amuse or to heal a troubled mind with tools of NLP or other roads of therapy, the need for proper ethics and masterful skill is the same. The Guild recognizes that there are skilled professionals with and without formal training, since the mastering of the skills of hypnosis in its purest form is easily compared to that of a musician. Many can play the notes, and the result can be recognized as a specific song, maybe even an enjoyable one – however there are fewer who compose new music and even fewer who reach mastery. Having an instrument and reading scores does not make great music, but it’s a good start. This is why the Guild also certifies certain hypnotic skills.

The Guild recognizes also that every master started somewhere, and is therefore open to aspiring masters as much as those at the peak of their career – because this is the whole idea: to model each other, and generations of hypnotists to come, for the love of mankind and every persons right to the full potential of your mind.
